In proportion to the extractive industry sector as a whole, the ornamental stone sector provides thousands with employment. Apart from the 1100 jobs immediately connected with the sector, the production of ornamental stone contributes to several thousand related jobs in the sector of machinery, tools, static and mobile extraction equipment, industrial diamonds and abrasives, as well as branches relating to transport and transformation (stone cutters, marble workers,) wholesalers and layers, (entrepreneurs, masons, tilers, stone and marble cutters).
